Spicy Baked Tofu, "Stuffing",
"Gravy" Spicy Baked Tofu - 1 pckg firm tofu - 1
pckg Kraft Shake'n'Bake
Press the extra liquid out
of the tofu between paper towels. Cut the tofu in 1 inch cubes and dredge in
the Kraft Shake'n'Bake. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes. (Note, the
stuffing, below, takes 40 minutes at the same temperature, so be sure to start
it first.) Baked tofu takes on a firm texture that is quite enjoyable.Some plum
sauce on the side goes well with this spicy dish.

"Gravy" This is a recipe for a basic
vegetarian brown sauce. It is fairly bland but goes well for the above dishes
as they are spicy. If you use it with other dishes, you may want to add soy or
teriyaki sauce or another sauce to add flavour. - 2 tbsp margarine - 2
tbsp flour - 1 cup good quality vegetable stock - 1/4 tsp salt and pepper
to taste Melt the margarine over a medium heat, add the flour and stir well.
Add the vegetable stock and continue cooking and stirring until the sauce
thickens. Add the salt and pepper. Serve over the spicy tofu and
"stuffing."
The above set of recipes serves 4. It goes well with a
tossed salad. |
