Walnut-Maple Syrup Cookies - 1 3/8 cup (330 ml) all purpose
flour - 3/4 cup
(180 ml) chopped walnuts - 1/2 tsp (3 ml)each ground cinnamon, baking
soda - 1/4 tsp
(1 ml)each baking powder, salt - 5/8 cup (150 ml) margarine - 1 cup (240 ml)
sugar - 1 egg
replacer - 1/2
tsp (3 ml) vanilla - 2 2/3 tbsp (40 ml) maple
syrup - 1 tbsp
(15 ml) margarine - 1/2 tsp (3 ml) vanilla - 1/4 tsp (2 ml) lemon
juice - 1/4 tsp
(1 ml) ground cinnamon
Mix together the flour, walnuts, cinnamon, baking
soda, baking powder and salt.
Cream together the margarine and sugar, then add the
mixed egg replacer and vanilla. Using an electric mixer, gradually add in the
flour mixture.
Divide the dough into 12 slightly flattened spheres
and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350F (180C) for 12
minutes. While the cookies are baking, combine the remaining ingredients in a
sauce pan and simmer to make a syrup.
Remove the cookies from the oven and
drizzle the syrup over them. Allow to cool on the baking sheet. Makes 12
cookies.
